Application and selection process
Requirements – Admission
Eligible applicants must have completed a degree program and obtained a first professional qualification
- in the state examination program in pharmacy, food chemistry, human or veterinary medicine, or an equivalent degree, or
- in a degree program of at least six semesters (bachelor's) in pharmacy or a natural science subject related to pharmacy, obtained in the EU, or
- in a bachelor's degree program obtained at a university outside the EU, after examination of the scope of studies, or
- in a university of applied sciences degree program obtained in a related field of study within or outside the EU, after examination of the scope of studies.
How many university places are there?
Admission to the program is restricted, and approximately 20 students are admitted each semester. Since the number of applicants usually exceeds the number of places available, a selection process is carried out in accordance with the selection procedure regulations for this program. In the selection process, a ranking list is created based on the criteria “first university degree” and “type and scope of practical knowledge from the first degree”.
It is recommended that you contact the lecturers in your desired area of specialization in advance to inquire about possible supervision.
When and how can I apply?
The application period for the winter semester runs from June 1 to July 15 each year, and the application period for the summer semester runs from December 1 to January 15.
Applications can only be submitted via the University of Bonn's application portal.
What certificates and documents do I need for the application?
Depending on the type and origin of your first degree, you will need the following documents, which you can upload to the application portal:
- the degree certificate from your previous degree program and/or the transcript showing the individual subjects/modules. You can also apply if you are due to obtain your first degree in the semester in which you are applying.
- Proof of sufficient knowledge of the German language at DSH 2 level if you did not obtain your university entrance qualification at a German-speaking school or your first professional qualification at a German-speaking university in German. The technical language examination of a chamber of pharmacists is not recognized as proof. An overview of possible German language certificates can be found here.
- Proof of English language proficiency at level B2. A German high school diploma, proof that at least parts of your first degree were studied in English, or a recognized language test are sufficient for this purpose.
- If possible, the module handbook or a link to a module overview of your first degree.
